B.D COOPER!!
HELLO!!
For the record, I still haven't received a comment on my blogs from someone other than the Sky Blue staff :( Its okay - I guess. I'll keep entertaining you with my stories anyway -- :) The other day I was reminiscing with Jillian Loyden, my teammate, about our 1st pair of soccer cleats. We had such a good laugh; I thought I would share my story.
For those who may not remember, my sister and I started playing soccer at 12. My oldest sister decided to play high school soccer and she had a teammate whose dad was coaching a youth team. My mom quickly signed us up to be on the team - MOORE PANTHERS. We knew absolutely nothing about the soccer so our sister took us into the backyard and showed us how to pass, kick and juggle. Now bare in mind this was her first time playing too - so it was like the blind leading the blind - HA, HA, HA!! That lesson lasted about 10 minutes, we ended up playing basketball and having a dance contest with our neighbors. The next day my mom took all of us to get cleats at Schilling's Soccer Connection. The owner, Kurt Schilling helped us pick out the finest PLEATHER (Plastic Leather) cleats available. Before we left the store, Kurt made it a point to tell us not to wear your cleats on cement because you will ruin the studs. I left the store beaming ear to ear!!
MY 1st pair of soccer cleats was a FABULOUS pair of black LOTTO's with the neon logo. I can't even begin to explain, how excited I was when I woke up the next morning. I put on my sister's red high school soccer warm-up, which was two sizes to big for me, underneath it all, I had my uniform on plus shin guards AND to complete the outfit I laced up MY FANTASTIC SHINY BLACK LOTTO's cleats. I was on my way out the door when my mother yelled, "you aren't wearing your cleats to school." But before she could say another word, I sprinted out the door. No one, I mean NO ONE was going to tell me that I couldn't wear my new cleats. Luckily, my mother didn't have the energy to chase me down, but my twin did. She caught up to me on the playground, "YOU'RE IN BIG TROUBLE!!!! - she yelled !! I just kept on walking.. scratch that.. I just kept on strutin'. As soon as I stepped inside the cafeteria for breakfast, the lunch lady yelled at me "you can't wear those in here, you'll mark up the floor!" I left the cafeteria and had to walk all the way around the building to the main entrance - As I walked through the doors I noticed that I had grass all over my kicks from running through the field behind my house. I headed to the restroom to clean them off. As soon as I walked in - there they were - the Barbie twins Stacy and Rachel the "coolest" girls in 6th grade. "Why are you wearing your soccer cleats to school?" they giggled - because I have a game right after school - DUH!! The whole morning everyone kept asking the same question. "Why are you wearing your cleats?" My pride never wavered neither did my answer. I HAVE A GAME RIGHT AFTER SCHOOL AND DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO GO HOME AND CHANGE. Thank heavens that no one put two and two together and didn't ask why my sister didn't have her cleats on too. When lunch came around that afternoon I had to take off my cleats to go eat in the cafeteria - that hurt a little. At recess however, I forgot all about eating in my socks, because I ripped it up on the playground with my FIERCE new kicks. When I got home that afternoon, I got a serious punishment, but it was well worth it!

Didn't know that I was an artist -- did you?
