Sky Blue Soccer is an internationally respected organization with high aspirations. At Sky Blue Soccer, our goal is to establish our organization as a leader for high-level soccer in the United States and around the globe. Sky Blue is based on an integrated program that allows players to progress in soccer from the youth levels to the amateur ranks to professional status.
A founding member of the newly created Women's Professional Soccer (WPS), Sky Blue Soccer will operate the New Jersey franchise when the new women's pro league kicks off in 2009. WPS will feature teams in seven markets around the country including Boston, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago, St. Louis, and Dallas with Philadelphia and Atlanta set to join the league in 2010.
The Sky Blue professional team will play its home games at Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ. Ian Sawyers, a former WUSA Coach of the Year award recipient, will lead the organization's professional team as the general manager and head coach.
In 2007, Sky Blue Soccer made its debut on the field with the launch of Jersey Sky Blue in the W-League of the United Soccer Leagues. Playing its home games at Ridge High School in Basking Ridge, Jersey Sky Blue posted a 12-2 record in its inaugural season while earning a berth in the W-League's Eastern Conference playoffs. Sky Blue continued its winning ways in 2008 with an 8-4-2 record in the W-League while playing at Drew University's Ranger Stadium.
In addition to its professional and amateur teams, Sky Blue Soccer has also developed the Sky Blue Soccer School - a youth training program where players can "Train like the Pros ... with the Pros." The Sky Blue Soccer School provides positive female role models and female trainers that have competed at the highest level collegiately and professionally in the United States and abroad.
Sky Blue Soccer headquarters are located in Somerset, NJ.
