Dickenmann Sparks Sky Blue Rout

FRAMINGHAM, MA (June 16, 2007) –

Jersey Sky Blue left its offensive woes behind in a big way Saturday afternoon with an eight-goal outburst. The first-year W-League team rolled to an 8-0 victory over the Boston Renegades at Bowditch Stadium in a W-League Northeast Division match.

The victory lifted Sky Blue's record to 5-1 and gave the team an impressive outburst of 13 goals in two days after the team's 5-0 win over the Western Mass Lady Pioneers on Friday night. The addition of forward Lara Dickenmann to the starting lineup this weekend paid immediate dividends for Sky Blue as the Switzerland international blasted in four goals against the Renegades after finishing with two goals the night before against Western Mass.

Sky Blue held a 20-4 advantage in shots in the game and Jillian Loyden needed just one save to claim the shutout - the fifth this season in six games. Dickenmann scored the first four goals of the game before coming out in the 64th minute. Kylee Rossi, Stacy Bishop, Katie Griffin, and Bonnie Young also scored for Sky Blue while Griffin added three assists to the effort as well.

Dickenmann opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Susanna Lehtinen slipped a pass into the box and the Swiss star slotted a shot into the lower right corner. She added two more goals just 37 seconds apart to give Sky Blue a 3-0 lead in the 33rd minute.

On the second Sky Blue goal, Dickenmann was on the end of string of one-touch passes that started with Formiga and went through Nikki Krzysik and Griffin before finding the Swiss star wide open in the middle of the box for an easy finish into the lower right. Less than a minute later, Dickenmann floated in a header off a cross from Griffin for the 3-0 lead.

After halftime, Dickenmann struck again for her fourth goal of the game in the 58th minute. Steph Logtermann made a nice run up the right side and beat a defender to the endline before sliding a pass to the far post for Dickenmann to slot into the open goal.

After Dickenmann left the game in the 64th minute, the rest of the Sky Blue team took over. Kat Sheeleigh set up the fifth goal on a cross from the left that found Kylee Rossi at the far post and she buried the ball into the open goal in the 77th minute. One minute later, Griffin fed Bishop on a two-on-none break for another easy finish.

Sky Blue closed out the scoring with two goals within a minute span for the third time in the game. In the 82nd minute, Formiga fed Griffin with a great through ball in behind and she slotted a shot into the right side of the goal. A minute later, Gina DeMaio played a short corner kick to Young and the Sky Blue defender blasted in a shot to close the scoring at 8-0.

Sky Blue will head to Ottawa for an exhibition match on Wednesday before returning home to host Boston on Sunday, June 24 at 5 p.m. at Ridge High School.
