First Half Surge Carries Sky Blue Past Renegades

Lara Dickenmann and Erla Arnardóttir connected for two goals each as Jersey Sky Blue knocked in five first-half goals on the way to a 5-0 W-League victory over the Boston Renegades at Ridge High School. Tobin Heath also scored as Sky Blue improved to 6-1 in the regular season.
Sky Blue held a 22-4 advantage in shots and goalkeepers Jillian Loyden and Erin Guthrie needed just one save between them to record Sky Blue's sixth shutout of the season.
Heath opened the scoring early when she connected in the seventh minute. Bonnie Young played a long ball behind from Sky Blue's end of the field and Heath ran onto the pass and poked a shot past Renegades keeper Jasmine Phillips.
Dickenmann helped add to Sky Blue's lead when she had a part in two goals in a three-minute span. In the 19th minute, Heath sent a long cross into the box from the right for a wide-open Dickenmann to head in. Three minutes later, Dickenmann sent a cross of her own in from the left side for Arnardóttir to touch home at the far post.
Arnardóttir added to the lead in the 27th minute with Young picking up her second assist of the match. The Sky Blue right back sent a long free kick into the box that Arnardóttir headed in at the far post.
Dickenmann closed out the scoring in the closing seconds of the first half to give Sky Blue the 5-0 lead. Casey Nogueira played a long ball forward from just outside her own box that Dickenmann ran onto on the left side. The Swiss star cut past a defender in the box before burying a right-footed shot into the upper right corner.
Sky Blue returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to the Maryland SoccerPlex for a Northeast Division showdown with the Washington Freedom. The Freedom currently sit one point ahead of Sky Blue for first place in the Northeast.
